Thorsten Goldberg Talk

Thorsten Goldberg is a Berlin-based multimedia artist celebrated for his innovative public art installations across Europe and North America. On January 6th, he will speak to the Bonvicini class about public art, sharing his expertise on how site-specific works can engage communities and reimagine everyday spaces. As part of the Bonvicini’s semester project to create a public work for the Berliner Ensemble in honour of Helene Weigel, Goldberg will share his knowledge on not only the preparation of public art but also aspects such as budgeting expenses.

Goldberg’s projects, like the acclaimed "53°30’N" in Edmonton, Canada, often explore utopian concepts and highlight the interplay between art and environment. As an artist, educator, and initiator of Public Art Wiki, he has influenced both public art practice and discourse.

With decades of experience, numerous academic roles, and a history of impactful commissions, Goldberg offers invaluable insights for art students aiming to navigate the complexities of creating meaningful and transformative public art.
